Episode 11: Creating & Curating Your Best Work

Most new photographers spend their time mastering technical details in their images. But what if I told you that is not the best way to create work that people stop and pay attention to?

Because when we spend all of our time laser focussed on technique and skills we can’t see the forest for the trees, and maybe when we stop to look at everything we realize that our forest is made up of trees that have no business being around each other… even if they are planted and cared for well.

This is where looking at the big picture of our work comes into play. And it’s what will take your individual, isolated images that may be disjointed from one another, and turn them into a cohesive collection that will draw people in.

When you are done listening to this episode you will know:

  • The difference between your portfolio and a collection and what to focus on when

  • The mistake I see people do so often when it comes to presenting their images

  • How to decide on what images to keep and which to cull

  • A scorecard for the logical brained photographers here

  • How to actually put together a body of work

When you finish listening, I'd love to hear your biggest takeaway from today’s episode. Take a screenshot of you listening on your device, share it to your Instagram or facebook stories and tag me. @kristinerosephotography
